Our Messaging Platform dispatches email, SMS and phone calls in a matter of 1-2 seconds from the moment data are received from the earthquake measuring stations. All necessary calculations (quake threat assessment, relative distance from users, etc.) are done electronically by our proprietary algorithm and notifications are sent on a 1-to-1 basis to endangered users in a blink of an eye.

The SMS alert message follows a set format:

SMS-Tsunami-Warning.com - ALERT! {quake_type} M{magnitude}. {location}. {date_time}. In danger zone: {dangerfor}. Risk: {risk_level}.

The message contains some variables pertaining the quake: quake type, magnitude, name of the closest location to the epicenter, date and time, threat level, and name of the people in the "danger zone". These info give an idea of the quake's intensity, location and threat level.

If such message is received, we encourage users to immediately consult our website for further information or verify the situation with local authorities.

No. At present, Email, SMS and Voice Call notifications are delivered in English language only.

It seems that some email providers (Gmail in particular) adopted some strict "spam rules" for which automated emails are relayed in the Spam folder. We strongly recommend you add our email address ([email protected]) to the "Safe Senders" list of your email account. If you don't do so, our emails (including email warnings) may be blocked by spam filters and may not reach you.

Our warning system operates over the internet and sends alerts regardless of users' location as long as the cellular signal is on (GSM, CDMA networks). These networks are the ones you use when you make a regular call with your mobile phone. GSM and CDMA networks are available in any country and region around the world.

In cellular service there are two main competing network technologies: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA). Cellular carriers all around the world including Verizon, Vodafone and T-Mobile use one or the other. So do you.

Just make sure the phone is turned on :) In simple words, if your phone can receive phone calls, so it will also be able to receive our quake alerts.

Earthquake information are generally very accurate because our notifications are sent after measuring stations parse quakes data and pass them on to us. However, with reference to Tsunamis, false alarms are possible. Tsunami risk assessment is made by our algorithm based on historic data and other calculations, but users should understand that receiving a tsunami warning from our website does not imply that a tsunami wave is necessarily on its way. However, rest assured that we do everything possible to avoid false alarms so that every alarm should be taken seriously and subscribers should get more information on our website or through other media.

You can choose the duration of your plan. Upon sign up, you are asked to select the service duration: 1 month, 1 year, 5 years. When the plan is due, your account will automatically get downgraded to FREE (the email service will still be ON, while sms and voice call service gets disabled). Yes, you can. Just login your account, hit "Test Tool" in your dashboard menu, then select a recipient (yourself or a family member) from the drop down menu, then select the type of notification and then click the "Test Now" button.

A test notification will be instantly sent to your mailbox (email) or phone (sms, voice call). If you don't receive the message, please check that your email or phone number are entered correctly. If the problem persists, please contact us to report the routing issue.

We are sorry to inform that, due to the excessive cost of SMS and voice call services to the pacific region, we are forced to restrict the use of our service in the following countries: Nauru, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands. Don't worry, we still send alerts to users in those countries, but we just have to charge a little more to cover our telecom bills. Absolutely. We only notify subscribers when their current location falls in a danger zone. And for the same principle, we will not alarm users if their location is outside the danger zone. Our system in fact defines a "danger zone" first, and then notifies ONLY those users whose location is contained in it.

As soon as you receive the alarm, you should:

• move immediately away from the shoreline and go to higher grounds;
• do not move to lower grounds by river beds or into valleys;
• do not waste time to take care of your belongings or your luggage even if it is for a minute;
• while you are moving to higher grounds, ring up your family and friend to inform them about the situation.

After the first tsunami wave hits, do not immediately return to the coast line. Very often a second, even larger wave arrives some time after the first one. Moreover other waves may come even hours after the impact of the first wave.

No. Earthquakes and Tsunamis cannot be predicted. However, once a large earthquake does occur, SMS Tsunami Warning can forecast its level of destruction and the possibility of generating a Tsunami wave train; this information will be used to send alerts to subscribers and their family members.
